Reading

Your child reading regularly at home will really help them progress. We would like all pupils to read at home at least 3 times per week. Please record all reading at home in your reading diary. When you have read 3 times in a week, you will get a sticker. When you have 5 stickers, you will be able to choose a prize. We check reading diaries on a Friday morning so please ensure they are in school.

Homework

In Year 3 and 4, pupils will usually have a short English and Maths task to complete. This may be a SPaG worksheet, maths challenge, consolidation activity or additional times table practice. Homework is handed out every Friday and is due in the following Thursday. Please make sure your homework book is in school every Thursday.

Spellings

Children are given a set of words to learn each week, based on the spelling rule that we are learning in school.  Below is an overview of the half term's rules and words.  Your spelling test will be every Friday but we need all spelling books in on Thursday please.

At the end of year 4, your child will be expected to spell 75% of the statutory spellings listed below, as well as all of the year 1/2 spellings (below in blue and white). Our spelling lesson teach the rules of these spellings. Where possible, practice the following spellings with your children alongside their weekly spellings.
