Homework and Reading

In Racing Rockets, reading books are usually changed once a week. Children are given some books for the week and receive four dojo's if they read three times at home.

Please comment or just sign your name in the diary when you hear your child read so that new books can be given.

Each child also has a Guided Reading session once a week, in addition to daily Phonics work.

We will be holding a reading parent workshop in the Autumn term.

This Week's Spellings:

There are no new spellings this week. Please revisit previous spellings or consider tricky spellings from the year 1/2 list.

In year 2, homework will consist of regular reading, weekly spellings and a maths activity each week. New spellings and maths homework are issued on a Friday. Both should be returned to school by Thursday. The children are tested on their spellings on a Friday.

At Albrighton Primary, we believe that homework should be a sharing experience between yourselves and your child.  Not only do we think it is so important for you to sit alongside your child in support, but we think it would be a lovely idea for you to mark their work with them.  This way you will be able to give immediate feedback and your comments will reflect how well your child did, whether on their own or with help.
